Temporary Tax Research Assistant

We are looking for a Tax Research Assistant to support our payroll team in auditing and managing tax compliance and resolving outstanding issues. This short-term role is essential for ensuring that our tax accounts are accurate and up to date.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research Tax Notices: Investigate tax notices by accessing online resources or contacting state and local agencies to gather required information.
• Account Management: Assist in cleaning up old tax accounts and ensuring they are correctly registered, including those for both the US and Canada.
• Filing Missing Returns: Research and confirm whether missing tax returns have been filed and determining the appropriate steps to file missing returns, including any penalties or zero returns.
• Access Issues: Help resolve access problems for online tax accounts by contacting agencies to update administrator information and remove outdated contacts.

Qualifications:

• Strong research and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with tax processes within payroll is required.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with state and local agencies.
• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks
