We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Process Engineer with extensive experience in metal machining and fabrication. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting CNC machining processes for the production of precision metal components. This role requires a deep understanding of CNC programming, process optimization, and lean manufacturing principles to improve production efficiency and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process Development & Optimization:
    • Design, implement, and optimize CNC machining processes for the fabrication of metal components.
    • Develop efficient setups, tooling, and fixturing solutions to reduce cycle times and improve throughput.
    • Analyze and resolve machining issues related to part quality, tolerance, and surface finish.
    • Analyze, identify and recommend new capital equipment that improves quality, efficiency and cost.
  • Programming & Equipment Management:
    • Create and modify CNC programs using CAM software for various CNC machines (lathes, mills, multi-axis machines).
    • Manage CNC machine settings, tooling, and equipment for optimal performance.
    • Collaborate with operators and technicians to troubleshoot and resolve programming and machine-related issues.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead efforts to improve machining processes by identifying areas for cost reduction, waste minimization, and productivity enhancement.
    • Implement lean manufacturing techniques (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma) to streamline production workflows.
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for machining processes.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure that all machining processes meet or exceed quality standards and customer specifications.
    • Perform root cause analysis for defects and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to establish inspection criteria and methodologies for machined components.
  • Collaboration & Leadership:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, and quality, to ensure successful project execution.
    • Mentor and train junior engineers, machinists, and production staff in CNC machining techniques and best practices.
    • Participate in design-for-manufacturing (DFM) reviews to provide input on manufacturability and cost considerations.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in CNC machining, process engineering, or metal fabrication.
    • Proven expertise in programming CNC machines, including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC mills and lathes.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, NX, etc.).
    • In-depth knowledge of G-code, M-code, and CNC machine operation.
    • Strong understanding of metalworking techniques, including milling, turning, drilling, grinding, and cutting.
    • Expertise with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and blueprint reading.
    • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
    • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in high-precision industries such as aerospace, automotive, or medical devices.
  • Familiarity with robotic automation and advanced manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MES systems for managing shop floor operations.
