The Accountant will support a multi-location month-end close while maintaining a strong compliance environment. The Coats Company LLC is headquartered in the greater Nashville area, TN.  With facilities in the U.S., Canada and abroad, Coats is one of the world’s foremost manufacturers of aftermarket wheel-service equipment. Coats designs, builds, and markets equipment, accessories, and consumables under the renowned brand name. 
This position does work onsite and must live local to Lavergne, TN. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare journal entries and provide financial support for month-end close
  • Prepare and action Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain Fixed Asset accounting process
  • Foster and advance a strong compliance and control environment, including daily work, month-end close, and audits
  • Support cross-functional teams to create and drive process improvements, including system implementation projects
  • Assist with tax reporting and filing, including sales tax, property tax, and other various tax deliverables
  • Identify, prioritize, and help to implement transactional process improvements in accounting and finance areas
  • Ad-hoc projects and analyses and other duties as assigned
Background and Skill
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant Business degree
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Minimum of 3 to 6 years general ledger, month-end close process, and reconciliations experience (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and experience)
  • Working knowledge of tax compliance a plus
  • Proven problem solver and experience driving improvements in transactional processes.
  • Involvement in an ERP conversion project a plus
  • Must have strong organization skills
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Must have high level of written and oral communication skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills required
  • Manufacturing experience a plus
  • Experience in lean environment a plus
